Heres a good Link to also go back and forth to look at in regards to doing costumes on a budget: https://the-dark-alliance.forumotion.com/t99-updated-write-up-for-costume

In the Dathomir system we encourage all to do their very best without pushing one self too far. A Costume may take a week or maybe months, it depends upon what you like and what you are trying to do.

Here are some important threads that might help in making a choice for what you want to do or find inspiration from.

PROGRESS THREADS:

RESOURCES: https://the-dark-alliance.forumotion.com/t226-australian-known-sources-for-our-resources

As you know TDA is noted mostly by its custom Sith, but we aren’t all just about the Sith. We accept characters such as Bounty Hunters, Smugglers, Agents, Witches like Night Sisters, Force Users, Roadees, Groupees, the list goes on. So to help one get started browse the forum, look through the above links and get a feel for what you want your character to be. Or if you are going for a Canon character check out some of the Canon costume build threads on the forums.

Once you have made up your mind you can get started by drawing up some concept designs, if you aren’t very good at that you can also use The Old Republic to help with design ideas and their various skins. Its encouraged that everyone make their costume as unique as possible without copying another Members design.

Now once you have a good idea what you want to do look into what you need, resources for armour pieces and what types of things you may need to know about or learn. There is no shame in buying a costume, you can buy stuff and mash them up together to create something unique to your liking. You may reuse old clothing even.

Remember to post your progress in your Build threads when you get the chance. Don’t push yourself too much but its important to do so as it adds bonus points when going for Official member status. It shows the work you have done but also if you run into any issues there is always someone somewhere that can help you out.

One last important thing, Have fun. Cosplaying and making a costume is all about having fun, meeting new people and making friends so don’t let the stress of things get to you too much. Take as much time as you need to work on your costumes, even if it takes a year to complete it. There is no limit and its all about you no one else.
